Seek and Find.

I awoke with hunger for something true.

When this happens I turn to the Bible. I know God’s word is a light unto my path. It is a guide for the lost, for the hungry, the broken, and for the ones who need inspiration.

As I prepared to read the Bible I prayed these words “Lord, help me to understand your word and receive something good from it”. Instantly a thought came to my mind. The thought was a verse from the bible.

Jeremiah 29: 13 “You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”
Immediately, another verse came to mind…

Matthew 7: 7-8 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.”

These verses comfort me. When I need a beacon of light, I know I can turn to God and I will find him.
As I searched the Bible for inspiration, I came across another verse. In short, I found exactly what I was looking for.

This morning I experienced peace, hope, security, and inspiration.

Do not be afraid to seek.

Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.”

God is waiting for you to seek Him out. He is waiting to commune with you.

Seek and you will find.

Miami A Beautiful Place

Hey ya'll!

Today I went on an adventure. I usually don't leave the house unless I have errands to run or concrete plans to attend to. However, today I found a surge of energy that pushed me get out of the house and explore my hometown.

Florida is filled with beautiful sights. Florida is warm, inviting, friendly and exciting. Yet, Miami is these things and more. Miami is known for its beautiful beaches, luxurious mansions, its exotic women, and its tropical city. Many travel from around the world to visit Miami. Movies are shot in Miami, stars buy vacation homes in Miami and people enjoy the city of the affluent.

However, Miami has other parts that others are not familiar with. These parts resemble the homelands of many Latin Americans who have migrated to Florida. These places are quaint and quiet. The views are stunning and the land is full.  Large banyan trees cover grassy areas to provide shade for one to rest. Tall palm trees carry tasty coconuts, and some come here to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
,
Today I toured these areas. I saw families; I saw women and children, couples, and singles finding solace in Miami’s beauty. Below are some pictures I shot with my cannon rebel. I wanted to share these photos with you and provide another view of my city.

Enjoy.

My Influences

What is on this heart of mine?

You all.

All you readers.

All you bloggers.

And all of you, creative minds.

A friend of mine told me about a conference coming up in September called The Influence Conference. This conference is a place in which bloggers can attend workshops. The workshops are designed to teach bloggers about advertising their blog and more. However, one thing that caught my attention was that this conference is more than just a conference. It is a place to meet God and other wonderful women.

Topics like Singleness, Acts of Love, Speaking 101, The Anatomy of a Blog, Fashion, Modesty, and more will be available for all to attend. This so, excites me!

This is a place where I can grow. I can meet women who are just like me, a friend, a student, a Christian, an ordinary human being. These are women who chase after their dreams and I can meet them. I can learn from their success and their failures.  Some bloggers have already made a difference in my life.

I have made no promises. I will be working soon and I am not sure if my schedule will allow for me to attend. But if so, I will be so blessed. The Bible states, “iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”
It is so important to be among a community that can lift you up. In the meantime, check out some women who lift me up. Their websites are below. If you like what you see be sure to follow them. Blogging is not about me, it’s about you. It’s about connecting, growing, and becoming inspired.

I hope you learn from these women as I am learning from them.

This pretty lady taught me to chase after my dreams.

This lovely lady taught me that it's Ok to go against societies norm. She taught me it was Ok to be pure, Ok to wait, and most of all she reignited me hope that God would deliver the man of my dreams, and that I didn't have to take over His role in finding me a family man.

And this woman has taught me that it's Ok to be myself.  To be bold, to stand out, to just be me.

Who is your influence?

Made With Respect

Hi Guys!

Every now and then we feel a little in the dumps.

Cheer up!

Psalm 139: 14 says, "I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made."

Fearfully means with respect. We were made wonderful. We were made with respect.

Remember that. When you feel down remind yourself of who you really are.

A prince...A princess.

So throw on your favorite shades ....and make a statement!

Jesus Is About "Good Living"

I want everyone to know that I respect others and their views. I think all religions and cultures are beautiful. However, this post is based on Christian views. You do not have to agree with it. I still respect and love those who do not agree. This is just my view.

John 10:1-10
Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers. This figure of speech Jesus used with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them. So Jesus again said to them, truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.  - The Bible.

What a mouthful. I have read this verse over and over again. I have heard many Pastors and Christian leaders teach Christian followers about what they think this verse means. However, today was the first day I read this verse and finally understood what it was saying. Let’s break it down.

Jesus is hanging out with his disciples as he always does. While he is spending time with his buddies, he informs them that there is a man who enters the place in which the sheep live. He tells them that this man is entering through the back door. Imagine for a moment there is a sheep pen. All the sheep live here. There is a fence guarding the sheep from intruders. There is also a gate in which the shepherded (the one who takes care of the sheep) can come in.  There is a sign on the fence of where the sheep live. It says “Please see gatekeeper.” Now imagine for a moment that there is a man who wants to enter. But, he doesn’t want to go through the gatekeeper because he knows the gatekeeper won’t let him in. He decides he will go through the back door and do he does.
Jesus is warning the disciples that there is a man like this. (This is a parable. Jesus used parables to teach the disciples a lesson on life.) Jesus says this man is a thief and a robber. He is there to steal. Now, Jesus says to his disciples that there is also another man. This other man is the shepherd. He always enters through the gate. He is familiar with the sheep. In fact, when He calls the sheep to come out of their pen, the sheep come because they know him. They know his voice, is touch, his scent. They know he is their master.

In Christianity sheep are a symbol of God’s people. And a shepherd is a symbol for God the Father. The second part of these verses, Jesus tells his disciples that he is the gate. He states that He is the only way for the shepherd to enter into the sheep pen. This means that in order for God to have an encounter with his people, Jesus is the channel in which God can meet with his people and vice versa.

Now, Jesus states that the one, who tries to commune with God’s people and disregard Jesus, has ill intentions. Jesus warns that this man is a robber. He has only come to take something from the sheep.  Then, Jesus confirms if someone or something tries to commune with his people acknowledging who Jesus is, then he has good intentions.
The Bible is a book written by men who were inspired by God. The book is a guide so that others can live their lives fully and well. Jesus states in these versus that he came to give life. He states that there have been others who claim to give life but instead kill, destroy, and steal from others. I want you to think for a moment the times your joy has been stolen, the times you have believed to have ruined something great in your life. What happened? Who was responsible? How did it happen? Did the thing that made a mess of things align with Jesus and his standards of living? If they didn't that’s probably why things got messy.

It’s ok to make mistakes. All of us make choices that are not the best sometimes. And all of us pay the consequences. However, now that we know there is a thief, let us not give him any more power over our lives. What is your thief? Is it depression? Is it bad eating habits that are causing you to become ill? Is it as simple as telling that piece of bread “no” or telling your friend that you’ll hang out with her when you have the time, because now is not the right time?  (I am not saying your friend is a thief.)

Anything that does not give you life is not from Jesus, it is not from God. If it doesn't add to your life it is not good for you. Now, I don’t want you to think that all bread is bad, or that depression is evil, or that hanging out with others is bad as well. As intellectual human beings we know these things are not evil or bad. But there are times for bread and there is a time for veggies. As far as depression, there are choices that can make living with depression easier. And friends should understand boundaries.

This verse is stating that Jesus is the only way to God. But, it is also stating that anything that does not line up with His standards should be assessed. His standards lead to healthy living. If you want to find out what his standards are just think of the things that do not add up to healthy living. We can believe in God and go to heaven at the end of it all. But would you have lived a fruitful life? Did the choices you make lead to better living? I’m telling you people, he wants more for you.

What's to Come...

(A picture from 2007)

Yes lovely readers, it is happening. It is that time...time to evolve.

While Lil Bit of grace has opened the doors for blogging creativity and growth, its purpose has been fulfilled.

Lil Bit of grace was a blog I created to record my journey in finding self. The hopes I had for my blog were to share my story with people of all cultures and backgrounds, expecting that my story would resonate in them. My desire was to encourage others in their lives through the accounts written on my blog. My primary aim was that people would begin a chronicle of their own and discover their potentials.

Although I had envisioned large amounts of people connecting through my blog, few connected and personally grew as a result. One thing I have learned is to absorb whatever I can from every situation and cultivate new strengths that can be taken into new opportunities that are presented.

What else have I taken away? Well, I have matured as a blogger. Involving others through the internet is not an easy task. One must learn how to market his or her project in such a way that it becomes a success. There are many other bloggers out there. In order to be successful one must stand out among the rest. It has been through Lil Bit of grace, that I have developed my own style. I am now certain of the topic and style I want to commit to in this new blog.

This new blog will be centered on healthy living. Many blogs discuss the topic of healthy eating; however, my blog will cover healthy eating and more. Living healthy is not only about eating habits, it is about taking care of the soul, spirit, and body.

So, with all that said…stay tuned for what’s to come. I promise it will be worth the read!
